The crisp air, the pumpkin spiced-everything, the colours… there are so many things we love about Fall, but my favourite has got to be the FASHION. Don’t get me wrong, I am a sun-baby and living in flowy dresses and sandals is pretty much heaven to me, but there’s something special about Fall fashion that beats out all the other seasons.
To me, Fall fashion means layers, soft fabrics, warmer tones and justification to buy those cute booties you’ve been eyeing up. I have to say that I am LOVING the trends this season, as they really compliment my fashion motto of ‘effortless style’. I like to keep things simple when it comes to choosing my outfits but I also like to feel put together.
Samantha (@thefamilyjewelsblog) and I had the great opportunity to partner with Uptown Shopping Centre in Victoria recently. We co-hosted an event called Uptown x Fashion where Sam and I created 6 looks for Fall, picking items entirely from Uptown. The 6 looks we chose to style were:
- Date Night/Girl’s Night
- Weekend Wear
- Work Wear
The event itself felt like a dream, as the team at Uptown went all-out to create the most incredible evening with 130 guests in attendance. There was a mac ‘n’ cheese bar, champagne, a boomerang booth, hand-lettering on canvas totes, a live DJ… the works. (And I even faced my fear of public speaking. No better time, right?)

It was so much fun putting together these 6 looks and we hope they will inspire your fall wardrobe. We chose pieces that could easily move between outfits, allowing for your fall closet to be capsule style. While staying on trend, these key pieces will be all you need for this year’s Fall fashion.
6 Ways to wear Fall fashion with Uptown
This is one is for all you mamas who want to look great but need to be able to move around easily throughout the day. From Saturday morning soccer to errands and birthday parties, you’ll want to live in this outfit.
In my opinion, a wardrobe must-have is a leather jacket. I live in mine in the Fall/Winter seasons and even in the Spring on the chillier days. The nice thing about a leather jacket is that it is so versatile. It can be dressed up or dressed down like I did for this outfit. As for these jeans, the black denim is so classic and classy. This pair of AG jeans is also slightly cropped and has a small slit detail in the hem. It’s little details like those that I love to really pull an outfit together. And, of course, the accessory for this look is a giant cup of coffee. Because… #momlife 😉
This Fall look was created for travel as it looks great but will keep you cozy on plane rides and road trips alike. Layering is essential when it comes to travel. Airports and planes are notorious for being hot then cold then hot then freezing.
Outfit: Matt & Nat backpack, New Balance runners, Adidas leggings, white tee, leopard print scarf, Levi’s denim jacket- Plenty.
This entire look is comprised of ‘can’t-go-wrong-with’ pieces. Comfortable leggings with a detail down the leg, runners for those long walks through the airports (and then for exploring the city once you arrive), a scarf that can be worn around your neck or taken off to be used as a pillow against the window and a jacket and bag that go with literally everything. We chose the leopard print scarf because this print is huge for Fall this year!
We styled another travel look to give some additional inspiration. This look could also be a perfect mom-on-the-go look or weekend wear.
Outfit: Teddy bear coat, white sneakers, statement tee, hat, jeans, cross-body bag- Dynamite
You’ve probably noticed, but the teddy bear coat is all the rage this season. These coats are great in any length for feeling extra cozy while staying on trend!
Date Night/Girl’s Night
These are my favourite outfits and I tend to have more going-out clothes than I ever have use for these days, but I always gravitate toward this look. I think I love it so much because with even one pair of great black pants, the combinations are endless.
This classic look is so easy to pull together. Choose a pair of black pants that are flattering for your body type. I gravitate toward a cigarette pant as I love tapered ankles. Add to the mix a camisole (either plain or with some great details/patterns) and throw on a blazer, heels and some accessories to round it all off. The cross-body we chose for this outfit shows off those warmer Fall tones and adds a real pop to the outfit.
