Life is full of lots of things: work, kids, driving around to said kids’ activities, etc. There are definitely moments where everything can feel like ‘a bit much’ and it’s in those moments that I know I need to find a way of hitting reset, ASAP. Grabbing a meal with friends, sitting and drinking an entire coffee while it’s still hot or getting a full night of uninterrupted sleep… those can work absolute WONDERS! Am I right, or am I right?
A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to do ALL those things and more. My lovely friend Samantha and I had the pleasure of being hosted by The Burrard in Vancouver for a little staycation. If you follow us on Instagram (Sam: @thefamjewels and me: @nshoremama) you maybe caught some of our behind the scenes excitement on our trip. It’s not easy to get two moms of young kids away on a holiday, so Sam and I savoured every single moment of our ‘girl time’. We went out for dinner, we met up with other friends, we chatted about work and family and love and life…
We hit RESET!
The Burrard is smack dab in the middle of Vancouver’s downtown action but we felt like we had truly escaped the responsibilities of our beloved city for those 24 hours. The way the boutique hotel is designed is made to feel like you’re somewhere safe and cozy on the inside and somewhere tropical and exotic on the outside. When you step out of your room, you could literally be ANYWHERE in the world. It’s pretty cool!

One of the many great perks of The Burrard is that, well, it’s right on Burrard St. We had Elysian Coffee Roasters right below us, Burgoo right beside us, Joey Burrard a couple of blocks away and all sorts of access to other restaurants and shops all within walking distance. After our uninterrupted sleep on our pillow top mattresses (heaven on Earth!), we took full advantage of all that our location had to offer.
Hot coffee, baked treats, fresh juices, hot soups, fresh salads… foodie paradise and all right when you step out of The Burrard.
There was so much to see and do around us, that we didn’t get as much time in our rooms even as we would have probably liked- as all fabulous holidays usually go. When you think of Vancouver, high cost of living is often included in the conversation. I was pretty surprised to find out how inexpensive it is to stay at The Burrard! The 72 rooms have been recently renovated and are AMAZING, not to mention much less expensive than the majority of Vancouver’s hotels! Check out their rates here to see for yourself! Oh- and did I mention the hotel is pet friendly?!! 😉
There are some really unique amenities at The Burrard that you won’t find at other hotels. Play ping pong with friends, chill by a firepit or grab a book and blanket to cozy up while you relax in their tropical-feeling courtyard. If you’d rather get out and about, The Burrard offers free bike rentals too. The rooms have Nespresso machines (hello!), free WIFI and 42″ HDTV’s.
If you’re looking for a great spot to sneak in a dinner and date night with you honey or you have friends coming to town for a weekend but you have no room for guests… whatever the case may be, The Burrard is your answer!
